The stars of 5 Seconds of Summer are utterly embarrassed by overly romanticised fan fiction.

The Australian pop rock-band, which can be comprised of members Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin, has an incredible number of adoring listeners around the world.

But while reading fan fiction about themselves, the musicians confess their cheeks often turn red with mortification due to grossly inaccurate and highly sentimental storylines.

“It causes you to sound embarrassingly romantic, making me feel below par about my actual self,” Ashton said during an interview while using U.K.’s BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, admitting he’s read fan fiction about himself online during the past.

Guitar player and vocalist Michael echoes his bandmate’s handle the phenomenon.

“That’s most evident,” Michael noted. “They do these matters online called ‘imagines.’ And it’s like, ‘Imagine fat loss date with Michael so you take a moonlit walk along the beach and stuff.’ When, the simple truth is, we get a date and it’s really like, you opt for popcorn and low. And then you visit the club… We just see a pub.”

However, you will find certainly some actual life romances happening from the group, as lead singer Luke recently spoke about his joy at to be able to publicly express the love for girlfriend Arzaylea.

He is dating the 21-year-old since last summer (15) and during a conversation with Rolling Stone magazine, Luke admitted he hated hiding his relationship with Arzaylea from lovestruck fans.

“It’s hard,” he told the publication. “One in the weird things is basically that you want it to become a secret, and you don’t wish it to be a secret.”
