Following their announcement of your extensive North American tour for 2016, the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Goo Goo Dolls have unveiled information of their upcoming new album ‘Boxes’, via Warner Bros. Records. The CD and digital will arrive on May 6th, using the vinyl version following on June 10th. The first song in the album Over and Over can be obtained now as a possible instant grat once you preorder Boxes on iTunes here.

‘Boxes’ is really a vibrant, sonically forward-looking album that is able to retain what their legions of fans love around the Goo Goo Dolls — indelible melodies, intimate, heartfelt lyrics, as well as the anthemic, uplifting vibe of the songs — while pushing new boundaries with regards to sound and production.

Singer and guitarist John Rzeznik seen that he didn’t desire to sit inside a room by himself and continue to write songs. With the goal of pushing himself past his comfortable zone, Rzeznik enlisted some of his favorite songwriters and producers to collaborate with including Gregg Wattenberg (with whom Rzeznik wrote four songs around the Goos’ 2013 album Magnetic), Wattenberg’s production partner Derek Fuhrmann, and Drew Pearson (who’s worked with Phillip Phillips and OneRepublic).

Although Rzeznik is thankful with the band’s sustained success (“I’m grateful for that enormous shadow that ‘Iris’ cast as it gave me a life, it filled me with a career”), he isn’t one to experience past glories and likes to keep anticipating. “When it came time for it to make ‘Boxes’, I really attemptedto give up my preconceived notions with the items the hell was expected of me,” he states. “I was impeding my personal growth by not opening myself approximately collaboration before. But if you allow other people’s ideas in therefore you share willingly, everything grows exponentially. None of those songs can have existed if I had maintained a defensive stance.”
