Sia initially found fame “destabilising”, so made a decision to conceal her identity when she launched her second bid for career success.

The 40-year-old Broken Glass singer is renowned for hiding beneath a grayscale wig or hats with hair attached, and contains only been seen without her disguises on the handful of occasions.

As she appeared about the Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Tuesday night, Sia explained she made a decision to wear the hairpieces because when she became famous to start with, she thought it was somewhat tough to cope with.

“I only wear this in order to try and keep a modicum of privacy,” Sia said. “I would be a singer already for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success. I was an alcoholic as well as a drug addict and I sobered up and decided I didn’t wish to be an artist anymore because I started to obtain a little bit famous and I was destabilising for some reason.

“So I decided what didn’t happens to pop music right now and it was mystery. I mean there’s pictures of everyone on Instagram for the dentist!”

Sia and James performed a few of her most famous tracks in a car including Cheap Thrills, Chandelier, Elastic Heart and Alive.

The controversial singer also popped about her belief in extra terrestrial life during her appearance within the show.

“I only rely on them because I watched a movie of the ex Canadian minister of defence just saying plainly that they knows for certain that the American government are in work with five different alien races and my blood ran cold,” she said. “I was like, that guy may be the ex minister of defence. He’s not some guy on YouTube!”

“I’ve not witnessed an alien…” she added. “Or maybe I have – maybe they’re just among us!”
