Blake Shelton is at for an “awkward” night in the Country Music Association Awards next week (Nov15) while he is sure his divorce from Miranda Lambert will probably be part of co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood’s comedy monologue.

The Boys ‘Round Here star and Lambert divorced in July (15) after four years of marriage and they’re both slated to wait the prizegiving ceremony.

Shelton is bracing himself to have an onslaught of jokes, but admits she has already given pal Paisley permission to produce fun with the situation.

“This year’s likely to be awkward for the CMAs… because were such a family, everybody there may be friends,” he told U.S. night time host Seth Meyers. “There’s gotta be described as a (joke) about me and Miranda. Brad Paisley isn’t doing his job if he doesn’t look in that area and go, ‘Haha!’ He’s gotta practice it! You have to address the elephant space.”

“We’ve had the conversations like ‘OK, dude, I will go, sit there and let you kick me with a backlash a few times’,” he continued. “I know it’s coming.”

Paisley was as shocked as anyone when Blake and Miranda announced they’d split, telling U.S. news show Access Hollywood trapped on tape, “Blake and Miranda got divorce in our format, the big deal since they will be two in the biggest stars which was a real bummer.”

He joked, “It is useful for country music – that’s better songwriting; nothing is worse than, ‘Oh, I love you together with everything’s great’. It’s better like, ‘You cheatin’, lyin’, not good…’ Those will be the songs that you just wanna hear.”
