Rihanna insists she was the well-known choice to record a layout for the new Star Trek movie, because she’s an enormous fan on the sci-fi franchise.
The R&B star just made history by releasing the playback quality for her new Trekker single, Sledgehammer, becoming the 1st artist to shoot a promo entirely with IMAX cameras.
And theNeeded Me singer, who plays a mystical alien with face tattoos in film, has confessed she jumped with the chance to record a tune for Star Trek Beyond’s soundtrack, because she’s a life-long Trekker.
“Star Trek is a part of gaming since I would have been a little girl,” she says. “It just required one episode to really like this other world that I couldn’t understand but I felt I could relate with. It’s never left me. It wasn’t just conducting a song for virtually every film, I love Star Trek.”
“I’m very, very honoured to be a a part of this film,” she adds.
Meanwhile, the unexpected Star Trek fan turned heads with a gig in Manchester, England on Wednesday night (29Jun16) when she was joined onstage by rumoured boyfriend Drake.
The couple performed their hit single Work together, with Drake fuelling the romance reports by kissing the singer for the neck.
The rapper also performed his latest hit One Dance throughout the concert at Emirates Old Trafford.
Drake and Rihanna were also spotted leaving a golf club iron in London at 6am on Wednesday morning.
Rihanna’s Manchester date was the ultimate night of her U.K. tour.
She debuted her eye-popping new video at IMAX cinemas within the U.S. on Thursday (30Jun16), along with the promo is currently streaming online.
