Singer The Weeknd a strange first selecting Taylor Swift after she spent the full time petting his hair.
The 25-year-old has seen his star rise rapidly within the last few year, on account of hits including Earned It and Can’t Feel My Face. His unique hair style has made him differentiate themselves from the crowd, when his path crossed with fellow pop star Taylor Swift’s, she seemed particularly fixated regarding his matted locks.
“The whole time she was talking, she was similar to, petting my hair?” he recalled to Rolling Stone. “I think she was only drawn to it — she must are actually a little gone off some drinks. And of course I’m not really like, ‘Hey, are you able to stop?’ I mean, it felt good! But when she started petting my hair, that’s when I was like, ‘I definitely need to have a drink.’”
The Weeknd and Taylor have since become friends and he or she even invited the soulful singer to become listed on her onstage during her 1989 World Tour remain in New Jersey in July (15) to do a duet of Can’t Feel My Face.
As well as having hits of his personal, the star – real name Abel Tesfaye – also has worked closely with fellow Canadian Drake on his 2011 album Take Care. Abel paid a number of tracks which were intended for their own mixtape, that was a hard decision, however in the end everthing worked out for the most effective.
“I lost the fight almost half of my album,” he stated. “It’s hard. I will often be thankful — whether it wasn’t for your light he shined on me, that knows where I’d be. And everything happens to get a reason.”
His success originates as a tiny surprise on the star considering he am self-conscious about his appearance when he was an aspiring singer.
“I was everything an R&B singer wasn’t,” he added. “I wasn’t healthy. I wasn’t a reasonably boy. I was awkward as f**k. I didn’t just like the way I looked in pictures — when I saw myself over a digital camera, I was like, ‘Eesh.'”
His insecurity has led him to help keep interviews low, which had been a particularly brave decision as being a new artist looking to break into the market. For a long time, people didn’t know whether The Weeknd would have been a band or possibly a solo artist and Abel was pleased with that.
“If it backfired, I probably would have already been doing interviews,” he explained. “But citizens were kind of liking me like a f**king weirdo.”
